Stem: strongly winged, sparsely or densely hairy.
Flowers: 5 to 70 composite flowers per plant with hairy peduncles. The large, yellow flowers can be up to 5 cm (2 in) across. The ray florets (which look like petals) can number 8-21.
Leaves: hair on the leaves vary with some being very hairy and some with non. Leaf arrangement is opposite.
Sun: Full to part sun
Ideal Conditions: Moist, clay soils in full sun.
